Q: With so many photos & video & keepsakes, where should i begin?
A: We know the feeling! That’s why we made our project creator: to fine-tune your options before you start gathering your footage. This way you can enjoy reminiscing as you uncover all those lost gems.
Q: How can you possibly put a lifetime of memories on 1 disc?
A: You may not want to. Ideally we can create for you a collection of FamilyFlix over time. That way we don’t leave any special moments out. If the occasion calls for it, we condense what you have into the very best highlights spanning his/her/their lifetime. This makes for a truly captivating video.
Q: I had an idea for a video of my family/friends but i don’t see anything like it on your site. Can you make my video how i want it?
A: Absolutely! We are always open to suggestion and you can choose to be as involved in the editing process as you’d like.
Q: What types of photos can i use in my project?
A: We can include just about any photo format you can throw at us including slides, pictures, negatives, & digital formats such as jpeg, png, & tiff.
Q: What types of video can i use in my project?
A: We can handle most video formats including VHS, Hi-8, MiniDV, DVD, hard drives, SD cards, & SDHC cards. We outsource 8mm, super-8, & 16mm to the experts. We currently use dvdyourmemories as they’ve proven to be reliable & competative.
Q: You mention keepsakes throughout your site. What are some examples?
A: These add a personal touch unlike anything else. They range from birth certificates, newborn hand/foot prints, & elementary school work to love letters, souvenirs, marriage certificate, & original music/poetry to name a few. Basically anything that is flat & not too large we can scan. The possibilities are endless.
Q: Can i pick out my own music?
A: Of coarse. Who knows better than you what your loved one(s) listen to. Due to copyright issues though, we ask that you submit via cd any copyrighted music you want us to use.
Q: These items are my most prized possessions. How can i make sure they’re well taken care of?
A: Your footage will be looked after as if it were our own. When you are ready to submit your footage, it’s a good idea to follow these simple shipping guidelines:
1)Package everything tightly with newspaper &/or packing peanuts. Place tapes & discs inside freezer bags and photos in a secure spot.
2)Ship with a reliable, trusted carrier like UPS or Fedex and make sure to get their tracking number.
3)Once we ship you back your finished FamilyFlix DVD’s along with your original footage, you’ll receive a tracking number.
Q: We would like to be able to watch the video on the computer, but we have privacy concerns.
A: We use Motionbox for online storage due to their excellent privacy settings. The most secure setting would require a username and password in order to watch the video. You can also send the link to any email address and if you’re like us & want more technical options, you can easily embed your video as well as create a smaller file for your phone or portable device.
Q: Can i preview my video before receiving my discs?
A: Sure you can. But are you sure you really want to? The best part is getting together with your loved ones & all watching it together for the first time! If you still want to preview it, we’ll send you a link. Let us know if you’d like to change anything.
