How It Works
We’ve simplified the process into 3 easy steps. Once you’ve decided what you’d like to do (Project Creator) contact us to see how we can create your one-of-a-kind project within your allotted budget. It’s time for the magic to begin!
1. Send us your footage
Photo – Every family has a collection of photos they adore. But how often do we actually look through them? Imagine sitting back & relaxing while you watch them come to life on your TV or computer! Just about any type of photo will work from prints, slides, & negatives to your standard digital formats like SD, SDHC, xD, Flash Drive, & disks. Don’t forget about video!
- When preparing you photos, make sure you organize them in some sort of order. For example younger>older or event start>end or individual events. Otherwise they may not end up in the order you envisioned.
- If they’re already in a digital format, write down their order as explained above.
Video – Including home video aids in taking your video to the next level due to the intimacy inherent in home movies. We can convert most types of analog video including VHS, 8mm, Hi8, miniDV & DVD. We use a reputable source for reel to reel conversion.
- Identify each individual tape/disc, for example by letter or number.
- Document which parts of each tape/disc you want to use as this ensures your favorite clips are used. Not to mention this will cut down on our editing time and save you $$$.
Keepsakes – Often overlooked, including your precious keepsakes is a great way to personalize your video. These range from birth certificate, baby finger/hand prints, ultrasounds, cards & invitations, first written words, report cards, drawings, certificates of achievement, articles, & so much more. Basically anything flat & under 12 x 8½ can be scanned into our workflow.
Music – A crucial element in creating the right feel, the soundtrack dictates how we approach our editing. From old to new, fast to slow, a cappella to orchestra, we’ve got you covered. You want to make sure you put the subject(s) or events interests at heart. In other words, keep the heavy metal out of the baptism video. Also, keep in mind that you can have various types of music throughout your video. Variety = captivation.
2. Video Editing/Post Production
We consider ourselves video alchemists in that we’re able to turn your ‘raw’ footage into gold thanx to a creative eye & our professional non-linear editing software. Keepsakes are scanned in using 600 dpi, shaky video footage is stabilized, color is corrected, & photos are enhanced (all of which is time consuming but necessary). Once your footage meets our quality standards, the real fun begins! We use Final Cut on Mac workstations in addition to a number of different software programs to bring your footage to life.
Before beginning any projects we’ll have you fill out a questionnaire to help us better understand your vision and to identify all key figures & events of your footage. We edit according to your subject’s (or event’s) disposition. Hence, you get a video tailor-made to your family.
3. Watch your one-of-a-kind video
Mothers, get those tissues ready as we’ve been known to bring some of you to tears! You’ll receive 2 copies of your custom video with matching disc & case art along with all your original footage. We also offer the following options of watching your FamilyFlix.
- Secure Online Portal for easy sharing to anyone with internet access. We can set an open link or password protect it.
- Your very own personal website for easy sharing on a unique website all your own.
- Digital Picture Frame to watch without the need of a TV or computer. Think home decór!
